Season Outlook
The William Jewell Cardinals begin the volleyball season with nine players returning with starting varsity game experience. Head Coach Eddie Hornback begins his second season with seniors Tonya Trout and Megan Morrow leading the charge into what is sure to be a tough season of competition. Tonya is an all conference Heart of America Middle Blocker who will provide stability, while Megan is a versatile all around player who saw most of her time at right side last year. A strong core group of juniors led by setter Margaret Crocker, Danielle Coverdell, right side, Heather Ricke left side, and Amy Schwendemann, defensive specialist, will provide leadership and experience. A sophomore class that includes setter Mary Beth Patterson, outside hitter Cassie Stone, defensive specialists Jeannette Waldo and Kristen Gracia were tested by fire in the 2002 campaign as freshmen. A very productive off season saw the addition of four very good first-years: outside hitter Erin Thess, outside hitter Lyndsey Schlimpert and defensive specialists Racheal Johnson and Leah Wahl, along with a senior transfer in setter Andrea Garcia.
The 2003 Cardinals are very confident that the upcoming season will bring the kind of success that is expected from William Jewell Volleyball.
