David Bassore Head Coach

Dave Bassore enters his third season as the Cardinals head coach. He became the 25th coach at William Jewell on January 1, 2001, after spending four years as assistant head coach at Central Missouri State. Bassore brings a wealth of experience to Jewell, having coached for 26 seasons: nine at the high school level and 17 at the collegiate level. He has assisted on the staffs at Pittsburg State (KS), Sam Houston State (TX), Emporia State (KS), Central Missouri State, and was head coach at Winona State (MN) for three seasons. He has coached at the high school level in Missouri and Texas. His last stop at the high school level was Kansas City Center High School, where he coached the “Jackets” to back- to-back District Championships and State Playoff appearances before leaving for CMSU in ‘97. A native of Marionville, MO, Bassore played collegiately at William Jewell, earning All- Conference and NAIA honors. He graduated in 1977 with a degree in Health and Physical Education, and completed his masters degree in 1981 at Pittsburg State (KS). Dave’s wife Debbie is also a ‘77 Jewell grad. They have two children, Dana, a senior at CMSU, and Aaron, a sophomore at Jewell. The Bassores reside in Liberty.

Craig Knaak enters his third season at Jewell after a two year stint as defensive line coach at Southeast Missouri State University. Craig has also coached at Perryville (MO) High School. The Atkins, IA native played collegiately at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA, earning All-Conference honors on the offensive line. Craig and his wife Heidi are the proud parents of Kerian Adella, who turned one in July. The Knaaks reside in Liberty.
Tom Irvin - Defensive Assistant A native of Raytown, Tom enters his first season at Jewell after serving as head coach at Ruskin High School. Tom has coached for 24 seasons at the high school level in Missouri and spent two years on the staff at Baker University, He played collegiately at Central Missouri State. Tom and his wife Johnna have three children: sons Alex (14), Tommy (13), and daughter, Bree (11), and reside in Blue Springs.
Ethan Pole Quarterbacks/Running Backs

Ethan Pole comes to William Jewell after serving as offensive coordinator at Greenville College (IL). He has also assisted at Luther College in Decorah, IA. Ethan played collegiately at Concordia College in Moorehead, MN, earning All-Conference honors as a quarterback. Ethan will reside in Gladstone.

Mark Faubion enters his fifth season coaching at Jewell after playing in the secondary for the Cards, graduating in 1998. Mark and his wife Amy are the parents of Hailey Elizabeth, who turned one last spring. The Faubions reside in Liberty.
Ted Graves Offensive Assistant/Special Teams
A native of Fairfax, Ted enters his second season at Jewell after coaching for 15 years at Kearney High School. A 1984 graduate of William Jewell, Ted participated in football and track. Ted also coaches the throwers on the Track team. He and his wife Julie reside in Liberty with their daughters Rachel and Meredith.
Bubba Rhodes - Student Assistant/Receivers
Bubba will serve as a student assistant after an outstanding playing career at Jewell, which saw him earn All-Conference and All-American recognition as a receiver and kick-returner. An Oak Park High School grad and Kansas City native, Bubba will receive his degree from Jewell in the spring.
