2004 NAIA Region V Champions - William Jewell Cardinals

2004 NAIA Region V Coach of the Year: Mike Stockton (Coach was also the HAAC Coach of the Year)

On Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at the NAIA Region V Tournament at the T.R. Hughes Stadium in O'Fallon, Mo., the WJC Cardinals broke the all-time winning record of 43 wins set in 1977 with a win over McKendree College 2-1. The Cardinals are currently 44-15 on their season.

NAIA Player of the Week
April 14, 2004


Ben Blanton of William Jewell College (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 12, 2004.

Blanton, a six-one shortstop from Liberty, Missouri, belted four home runs and drove in 16 RBI in six games, batting .550 for the week. The junior scored 12 runs and also notched a triple in William Jewell’s 6-2 and 16-3 wins against MidAmerica Nazarene University (Kan.), 8-2 and 11-6 victories over Kansas Wesleyan University, and 10-1 and 11-3 defeats of Evangel University (Mo.). Blanton also notched a triple and drew three walks as the Cardinals improved to 32-9 for the year.

Ben Blanton leads William Jewell to a 6-0 week, hits .550 with 11 hits in 20 at-bats

Columbia, Mo. – Ben Blanton, a junior shortstop for William Jewell College (Mo.) is the Region V Player of the Week in baseball for April 5-11. Blanton posted a .550 batting average in his club’s six wins last week. He recorded 11 hits in 20 at-bats, including a triple and four home runs. Blanton also scored 12 runs and posted 16 RBIs, helping push William Jewell’s overall mark to 32-9.

Ben Blanton, a 6-1 junior shortstop from William Jewell College has been named the HAAC Player of the Week for April 5. Blanton went 11-for-20 (.550) on the week with 12 runs scored. He smashed a triple and four home runs and tallied 16 RBI to go along with three walks. He had a 1.250 slugging percentage this week helping the Cardinals to a 6-0 week.

Pitcher of the Week - March 1, 2004

Josh Stout
Right-Handed Pitcher, Sr., 6-3, Keller, Texas

Josh Stout, a senior right-handed pitcher from WJC has been named HAAC Pitcher of the Week. The Keller, Texas, native recorded a complete game victory over #2 Oklahoma City University. Stout allowed two earned runs in seven innings and recorded 10 strikeouts, a walk and gave up four hits in seven innings of work.
