Financial Aid: How do I apply for financial aid?
For a complete evaluation of your eligibility for financial assistance, you should complete three steps:

  1. Apply for admission. Start by applying for admission to William Jewell since a financial aid award will not be finalized until you have been formally offered admission to the college.

  2. Complete a William Jewell Scholarship Application. The information you provide on the college scholarship application helps ensure that you will receive full consideration for all scholarships, grants, and other awards offered by the college.

  3. Complete the FAFSA. As soon as possible after January 1, complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This application will be used to determine eligibility for federal financial aid as well as for many state and institutional aid programs. You and your family may be asked to supply copies of federal income tax returns, verification of citizenship, or other supporting documentation.

Note: If you feel that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid may present an unrealistic picture of your family’s financial strength, you may submit the WJC Financial Aid Application Supplement to explain circumstances for loss of income/benefits due to layoff, termination or retirement. To report unreimbursed medical and/or dental expenses, tuition paid for elementary and/or secondary education expenses, death of applicant’s parent (for dependent applicant), separation or divorce, you must submit a letter with specific details and supporting documentation. All requests must be submitted, in writing, to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services and require original signature of applicant and parent (for dependent applicant).
