General Education: Why is the General Education curriculum unique?
- First-year students all share a common experience through the "Responsible Self" introductory course. Studies show that a common academic experience in the first year fosters critical relationships and student assimilation into the community.
- Students take fewer General Education hours at William Jewell than one might find at other institutions. This allows for more flexibility within the major and the flexibility to double major.
- The General Education curriculum is more structured than one might find at other institutions. Our students move systematically through the program in a manner that will provide them with the best opportunity to first choose and then succeed in an appropriate major.
