Concert Choir
The Concert Choir is the college’s most advanced choral ensemble. The 45 to 55 members are selected by annual audition at the close of the spring semester (except for transfer students). The Concert Choir makes annual tours in the U.S. during Christmas or Spring Breaks, and has made five concert tours of England and Scotland (one every three years). Members come from almost all majors, sophomores through seniors, and are selected on the basis of vocal ability, music reading skills, aural skills and general musicianship. Membership satisfies music scholarship requirements and choral ensemble requirements for music majors.
Debate
Forensics is one of the oldest extracurricular activities on the campus. Debate and oratory have been carried on at Jewell since 1873. The activity is so integrated with the college program that it is in a sense curricular; for exhibiting quality in this field, students can earn up to four hours of credit. As a member of both NDT and CEDA, the squad attends tournaments at colleges and universities nationwide and also sponsors the Bowman Tournament annually.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Human Resources Management Association
William Jewell College’s HRMA chapter, sponsored by the Human Resources Management Association of Greater Kansas City, was chartered in 1980 and is one of five student chapters within the Greater Kansas City Association. The chapter has received several merit and superior merit awards from the Kansas City chapter. The purpose of the student HRMA chapter is to provide students pursuing careers in human resources with opportunities to keep abreast of professional issues in this field. Many activities are offered to members, including company tours, guest speakers, and co-sponsored events such as the etiquette seminar and networking reception. The chapter conducts a resume building/interview preparation seminar and provides a mock interview session for high school students each semester. Meetings are held monthly and are open to all majors.
Innkeepers
Some prospective students request a chance to experience college life by spending the night on campus. Innkeepers are students who offer to host these guests in their room overnight (both in residence halls and the Greek Complex). Innkeepers assist the Office of Admission by agreeing to give prospective students a better picture of life as a college student. Innkeepers must prove to have integrity in adherence to college policies, enthusiasm for the Jewell experience, and reliability, in order to be effective hosts. Interested students may sign up to be Innkeepers during their first-year on campus.
